Bruno Capinan is a captivating performer who enthrals audiences with his unique blend of indie-pop and bossa-nova inspired rhythms, fused with an extravagant performance. Hailing from the capital of the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia, Capinan infuses his music with the vibrant rhythms and rich cultural heritage of his homeland, while also drawing inspiration from a diverse array of global influences. His sound, characterized by intricate melodies, poetic lyricism, and infectious grooves, transports listeners on a sonic journey. Capinan is an ambassador of Brazilian tropicalia - a dissident musical movement during the Brazilian dictatorship of the late 1960s. Capinan has performed around the globe, including the renowned Coliseu de Lisboa (Portugal) supporting Brazilian legend Gilberto Gil, as well as at the Montreux Jazz Festival (Japan), Toronto Jazz Festival (Canada), Rio 2016 Summer Olympics (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), BIME Bogotá (Colombia), and at the inauguration of the Japan House São Paulo with Japanese composers Ryuichi Sakamoto and Jun Miyake in 2017. His artistic endeavours have been met with critical acclaim, including reviews in The Guardian (UK) Libération (France), and prestigious awards such as Mundial Montreal’s Stingray Award 2023 for Best Showcase Performance.
