“Weight of Light brings together work by Azadeh Elmizadeh and Arman Azar, following years of conversation and parallel making across media. Literary and textual references pertaining to the mythology, aesthetics and mysticism of pre-Islamic and Islamic Iran are a point of departure and continued return for both artists, allowing for a generative approach to excavating an unfixed past. Central to this process are layers of translation, bridging languages, gestures, forms and materials, to arrive at shifts, distortions, and distant resonances. Here, translation approximates abstraction, unmooring itself from immediate singular readings to enter spaces of porous meaning and continuous motion.” _ an excerpt of a text by @pardiss.amerian available in print and online upon the opening of the exhibition.
