“We understand the world better if we tremble with it.” - Édouard Glissant

For the final gathering of @TenderPossibilities, created in collaboration with @the519’s 2SQTBIPOC Intergenerational Storytelling Project, we will explore the theme of practice.

Our current political moment is not only dire, it is incoherent. It’s unclear how to organize effectively against the forces we face. We live in a time of deep uncertainty. And still, practice offers a path. It is an ongoing process that calls for reflection, care, and accountability. Practice allows us to meet ourselves and each other in the where and how of who we are, where we’ve been, and what we are shaping. These are the ways we resist disposability, the ways we show up for one another. It is about being in relationship with spirit, with revolutionary love, and with each other.

In this closing session, we’ll explore poems that invite reflection on the practices that sustain and strengthen our interconnection. This is a space to honor and celebrate five months in community at The 519, and to imagine how the threads we’ve woven might continue beyond this series.

A nourishing lunch will be served by Krish @cookeduntiltender, and our participatory poetry exploration will be facilitated by Featured Poet @kaichengthom and Tender Possibilities’ founder, Farhia Tato.

Kai Cheng Thom is an award-winning writer, performer, and creative arts facilitator based in tkaronto/Toronto whose work delves deeply into the themes of revolutionary love, transformative justice, and healing from collective trauma.
