Keep the Do West festivities going and join the Untold Stories crew at Sounds Good for a night of topflight house music (and much more) with Berlin-based legend Tama Sumo and local gem Pursuit Grooves.
Tama Sumo (Kerstin Egert) is a standout German DJ and producer known for her eclectic style and sharp mixing skills across house, techno, and beyond. She kicked off her career in the '90s, playing small Berlin clubs, and has since carved out a solid reputation in the global underground scene. XLR8R called her “one of the best house and techno DJs in the world,” adding that her rise is all about her skills behind the decks.
She's a longtime resident at the legendary Berghain/Panorama Bar—one of the most influential spots in electronic music worldwide. Over the years, she's released original tracks and remixes on the Ostgut Ton label, bringing a deep, versatile sound that moves between melodic house and tougher techno. Her sets are all about vibe and flow, and her push for musical diversity and inclusivity has made her a key player both in Berlin and on the international circuit.
Based in Toronto, Canada, originally from the Washington, DC area, Pursuit Grooves (Vanese Smith) started producing music as a teenager to accompany the lyrics she was writing. She makes music that is sonically adventurous, oscillating between moments of jittery tension and silky release, producing chopped-up basslines, woozy cinematic melodies and improvisatory funk in order to create a beautiful balance of light and dark, fragility and toughness, seamlessly blending deep machine soul, dismantled hip-hop instrumentals and heavy hitting, genre-bending dub. Her DJ sets reflect all of this.
Join us on June 6 for a night of quality underground house!
