STANDARD TIME x OCAD PRESENTS ODD SOUL'S OPEN AIR SUMMER PARTY FEATURING KEYS N KRATES, DJ MINX, KARIM OLEN ASH AND THE PATCHOULI BROS!

Toronto!  We are doing our very first outdoor, open-air summer edition of ODD SOUL.  We're going from the afternoon into the evening with sets by your boys Keys N Krates, alongside a lineup full of amazing DJs.  Come jam with us.

DJ Minx, born Jennifer Damaris in Detroit in 1967, has been a key figure in the city’s electronic music scene since the early 1990s. Inspired by Derrick May, she began DJing at local clubs like the Loft and hosted radio shows including Deep Space Radio and Steamy Windows. She founded the Women on Wax collective in 1996 and launched its record label in 2001, championing female DJs and producers. Her 2003 track "A Walk in the Park" became an underground hit and was reissued with remixes by top artists. Minx went on to release a steady stream of EPs and performed regularly at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival and Movement.
In the 2010s, Minx began receiving wider recognition for her contributions to dance music, earning accolades from Mixmag, Time Out New York, and the Detroit City Council. She left her job in the auto industry to pursue music full-time, releasing new works like Violet Groove and Queendom. In 2021, she came out as a lesbian and released music supporting LGBTQ+ causes, while also being honored with a mural in Detroit. Her international presence grew with appearances on BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix and releases like "Do It All Night" on Planet E. Today, she stands as a respected and influential figure in house and techno.

Karim Olen Ash grew up immersed in the rich sounds of the Black diaspora, with gospel, reggae, soul, funk and disco forming the musical foundation of his childhood. His brother, also a DJ, passed down his skills and passion, helping shape Karim’s path. Deeply inspired by the blackness and queerness at the heart of house and ballroom culture, Karim blends high-energy intensity with soulful grooves in his sets, aiming to create euphoric dancefloor moments. His obsession with Much Music’s Electric Circus as a kid helped fuel his love for crafting shared musical experiences.

In recent years, Karim’s career has taken major strides. His Boiler Room debut served as a key turning point, followed by a dream-come-true moment opening for Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour in Toronto. He has performed at top-tier events like the Carry Nation party in New York and shared stages with artists such as Kaytranada, Black Coffee, and Romy of The XX. One of his proudest accomplishments includes performing alongside Honey Dijon on the Transmutation Tour, further cementing his place in the global dance music landscape.

The Patchouli Brothers are best friends bound together by oddities. They share an affinity for the esoteric side of disco, house, and all other forms of soulful dance music. They hold down a residency at Beam Me Up, a disco night in Toronto, and have had releases on some of their favourite labels like Defected, Nervous, Razor-n-Tape, Soundway, GAMM, Soul Clap, Star Creature, Pleasure of Love & Basic Fingers.
