Help renaturalize the rare freshwater coastal dune ecosystem that is home to Hanlan's Point Beach. Join @friendsofhanlans and @torontopfr Urban Forestry on Saturday, June 8th at 10:15am for a tree 🌳 planting event celebrating Pride 🌈. We'll be making seed balls and planting saplings to help bolster the mature forest at the back of the dunes, where it transitions to large, empty field. Find us near the entrance to Trail 3, the trail opposite the tennis courts, where the wooden vine trellis is. This event is free but expected to be over-capacity, so show up early to secure a spot!

History note: the field used to be a natural marsh at the tip of Hanlan's Lagoon before it was filled in during the 1930s for the construction of @bbishopairport . In 1960, it was clearcut again when the homes were removed from Hanlan's Point and a concrete splash pad was built. You can still see the outline of the splash pad as you approach Trail 3.
