Maggie’s: Toronto Sex Worker's Action Project (Maggie's) is teaming up with director and Canadian cultural powerhouse Sook-Yin Lee to present a special hometown screening of her newest film, Paying For It, on International Sex Worker Rights Day (March 3rd) at the Paradise Theatre. The program will celebrate sex worker activism and joyful defiance, filmmaking and the importance of telling stories about sex work. All profits will go to support the sex work advocacy done locally and at large by Maggie’s and Sex Professionals of Canada (SPOC).
The legendary burlesque sensation Tanya Cheex will join Lee in hosting a one-night-only program that includes short films by Paying For It cast members Jamie Whitecrow and Lea Rose Sebastianis and a live post-screening talk with Lee, cartoonist Chester Brown and cast member Hannia Cheng. Interviews with Valerie Scott (historic sex worker justice activist) of SPOC, and our new ED at Maggie's!
