Exquisite Queer Corpses: Constructing Our Queer Selves with Mixed Media Sculptures

Inspired by the processes used for constructing the TQFF 10th Year Anniversary poster, artist Pardis Pahlavanlu leads a workshop where participants can build their own queer subject sculptures using a mix of hand-building and found objects that Pardis will collect and share.

After choosing their “body parts” and arranging them, participants will adhere their “body parts” using multiple traditional crafting methods (i.e. adhesive, hand sewing, etc.). Upon constructing their queer subject sculptures, participants can place their characters on a green screen platform where they can take pictures of their creation.

Through this workshop, participants will capture the essence of intersectional queer embodiment without relying on the representation of queer subjects as a compilation of stock human forms based on social categories.
