Dancing and Costume Contest @ Lula Lounge Thurs Oct 29th Doors 7:30 Dancing 8pm-late Salsa, bachata, and line dance lessons all night long!

We are bringing together different cultures, dance styles, music genres, and spooky celebrations to bring you the ultimate queer party to kick off Halloween weekend!

Come celebrate Día de los Muertos with Spurs Night and Baila Saficá at Lula Lounge. We will be teaching beginner line dance, salsa, and bachata lessons, along with hours of open dance floor to keep things sexy and sweaty.

Come learn a new form of dance or dance your favourite style—there will be room on the dance floor for all genres throughout the night.

Halloween costumes and calavera makeup* encouraged for our costume contest!

*Calavera makeup is traditional Mexican skull makeup worn during Día de los Muertos celebrations. If you aren't Mexican or Latinx, we're trusting you to pick your costume and makeup in a way that respects the wonderful but culturally sensitive traditions of others.

BIPOC Ticket Tier and PWYC Door Tickets

We have reserved a number of $15 tickets for BIPOC audience members. No one will be clocked on the door; we trust people to self-identify for these tickets.

There will be a small number of door tickets available on the night. These (plus any remaining online tickets) will be sold on a pay-what-you-can basis. Suggested price $15-20 but no one turned away for lack of funds!

Accessibility Information

The front entrance to Lula is fully accessible. There is one step down onto the dance floor and one or two steps to the elevated dining areas. The venue has a movable ramp that allows wheelchairs and mobility devices to access the dance floor and the elevated dining area on the east side. There is a fully accessible universal washroom on the main floor off the lobby. The coat check, basement washrooms and mezzanine areas are not accessible. Requests related to accessibility can be directed to info@lula.ca.

This event will not have a dedicated, enclosed low-sensory room. However, there will be a "chill out" space available in the mezzanine, with ample seating and away from dancing and flashing lights.

This is a Queer Party

Please note that this event is open to all identities and audiences, but it is a queer event. Respect the space and queers to the front! There will be a zero tolerance for discrimination in any form. Spurs and Baila staff (and Lula's security team) will be on site to ensure safeguarding of our community, please don't hestiate to ask us for help on the night.
