As winter draws to a close, ancient Persian tradition tells us it is bad luck to remain at home on the eve of Chaharshanbeh Soori—“Red Wednesday”—celebrated on the final Tuesday night before spring. For generations, people have poured into the streets in joy, gathering to dance, sing, and celebrate together under the open sky.
This powerful cultural ritual has been passed down for nearly 3000 years and remains deeply meaningful today. A central tradition of Chaharshanbeh Soori is jumping over fire—symbolically releasing the weaknesses, sickness, and sorrows of the past year, and welcoming the fire’s warmth, strength, and healing energy into our souls. As we leap over the flames, we chant: “Zardi-ye man az to, sorkhi-ye to az man” — “Take my yellow (sickness), give me your red glow.”
This past year has been especially heavy for the Iranian people, marked by grief and hardship. But together, through fire, community, and this important cultural tradition, we renew our spirit and step forward into a brighter new day (no rooz / new year).
Join us for our annual Fire Festival celebration—an unforgettable night of house music infused with timeless Persian and Eastern sounds, as we honour tradition, resilience, and new beginnings.
